Course Description:
This American Red Cross certification course prepares participants to respond confidently and effectively to breathing and cardiac emergencies involving infants, children, and adults. Through hands-on training, participants will learn how to perform high-quality CPR, use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and assist a person experiencing breathing distress or anaphylaxis.
The course includes essential training in the use of an asthma inhaler and epinephrine auto-injector (EpiPen®) as part of emergency care for individuals experiencing severe allergic reactions or asthma attacks. Participants will leave equipped with the skills to recognize, respond to, and manage life-threatening emergencies until advanced help arrives.
Skills Covered:
Adult, child, and infant CPR
AED operation and troubleshooting
Choking relief (conscious and unconscious)
Assisting with asthma inhaler administration
Responding to anaphylaxis with an epinephrine auto-injector
Who Should Attend:
Teachers, parents, childcare providers, coaches, school staff, and anyone responsible for the care of children or vulnerable populations.
Course Length:
Approximately 6 to 6.5 hours (includes breaks)
