Course Description:
The First Aid for Severe Trauma (FAST) course, developed by the American Red Cross in collaboration with the Department of Homeland Security, equips participants with the knowledge and confidence to respond to life-threatening bleeding emergencies. This course is ideal for bystanders, students, educators, and members of the public who want to be prepared to act when every second counts.
Through interactive instruction and hands-on practice, participants will learn how to recognize severe bleeding, apply direct pressure, pack wounds, and use a tourniquet effectively. The course also addresses emotional preparedness and communication with emergency services.
